Matthew Jenkins is an Iowa native. Born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, Matthew excelled in academics and sports. He attended the University of Nebraska-Kearney on a full athletic scholarship and played for Nebraska’s legendary basketball coach Tom Kropp. During his time as a student-athlete, he enjoyed opportunities to mentor students with special needs and youth that were at-risk.. This passion for leading, mentoring, and teaching resulted in earning a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. Matthew has served in various educational leadership roles for students and families in the Cedar Rapids area for 13 years. Currently, Matthew serves as an Associate Principal at Prairie High School. Matthew and his wife, Carissa, live in Cedar Rapids raising their 4 children Jariah, Isaac, Isaiah and Jayda.
